What we do
The Primary Care Mental Health Support Service are aimed at individuals from the age of 18 who are experiencing mild to moderate mental health problems for example anxiety and depression, or for those who have more serious mental health problems but who are sufficiently recovered that their illness is stable.
We are based in four locations – Rhondda, Taff Ely, Cynon and Merthyr. For Bridgend Services, please follow this link
How to access
Primary Care Mental Health Support Services operate either within, or alongside, existing GP practices. Prior to an assessment being offered we will need an up to date referral from the registered GP practice.
What to expect
We aim to contact you and offer an assessment within 28 days. The aim is for all mental health assessments to be goal focussed and the assessing practitioner will discuss suitable interventions provided which are short term and can be delivered by telephone, face to face or video call.
We can provide information and advice to individuals and carers as well as ‘signposting’ them to other sources of support, including third sector organisations. We can also support onward referral with secondary mental health services, where this is felt to be appropriate for an individual.
