What we do
March 2015 saw the culmination of a comprehensive redesign of stroke services at Cwm Taf University Health Board, incorporating:
- The creation of a new community based rehabilitation service allowing early supported discharge for stroke patients.
- The centralisation of longer term inpatient stroke rehabilitation services at Ysbyty Cwm Rhondda.
- The centralisation of hyper-acute, acute stroke and early stroke rehabilitation services at Prince Charles Hospital.
This was driven by the need to improve the quality of services in line with local and ever more challenging national clinical standards
Who is it for?
This service is predominantly for patients who reside in the Cwm Taf area, however some patients from Powys and Aneurin Bevan Health Board areas also receive stroke care at Prince Charles Hospital.
Can anyone use this service?
This is an emergency service. Patients with suspected symptons are assessed following emergency admission.
