Cwm Taf Morgannwg has a vacancy for an Independent Member – for this opportunity you must be an elected member of a local authority within the Cwm Taf Morgannwg University Health Board area. You will have to demonstrate:
- A knowledge and understanding of local authority matters in the area served by Cwm Taf Morgannwg University Health Board.
- Ability to apply your knowledge and understanding of local authority matters in a strategic board environment.
Independent Members who are appointed will bring a particular perspective, skill or area of expertise to the Board and must do so in a balanced manner, ensuring that any opinion expressed is objective and based upon the best interests of the health service.
The Board functions as a corporate decision-making body, Executive Directors and Independent Members being full and equal members and sharing corporate responsibility for all the decisions of the Board.
The post of Independent Member to Cwm Taf Morgannwg University Health Board is based on a notional commitment of a minimum four days (4) per month but this will be subject to organisational demands and is expected to be higher than the minimum requirement.
All meetings are held during the daytime and training will also be provided.

Whilst training and support will be provided, the role is challenging and provides a real opportunity to contribute to the governance of the health board.
