Staff and patients at Porthcawl Medical Centre have been getting in to the Christmas spirit with help from pupils from local primary schools.
Children from Nottage Primary School, West Park Primary School, Newton Primary and Porthcawl Primary visited the practice last week to sing Christmas carols.
Over the past month pupils have also taken part in a Christmas tree decoration competition. The winners of the competition were presented with prizes on Friday by the Mayor of Porthcawl, Cllr Graham Walter in a special service. Porthcawl Male Voice Choir were also on hand to entertain staff, patients and pupils.
Porthcawl Medical Centre moved to their new premises earlier this year.
Dr Peter Evans, Senior Partner at the practice said: “We love our new building and we love Christmas so to bring the two together is amazing. We don’t want children to be frightened of coming here. We want them to see it as a health centre not as an illness centre.
“We are really grateful to the teachers and children who have embraced the idea and been so fantastic in their singing. Staff and patients have been so impressed by the standard and quality of the decorations made by all the children and we want to thank them all for their hard work and for making our first Christmas in this amazing new building so special”.
22 children were chosen as winners of the Christmas tree decoration competition and all received a certificate and selection box. The overall winner from each school also received an Amazon voucher. The decorations from many of the children that took part from all four schools now decorate the Christmas tree in the entrance of the Medical Centre.
